THE BLKWOMERICA VISION

Blackwomerica started in short form quick hits designed to get names, faces, and stories back into circulation. From there, it stretched into longer videos and written pieces so the context could live somewhere permanent. As the archive grew, the work moved naturally across platforms, then into podcasts, where conversations could breathe instead of being cut for time. Merch came next, not as branding, but as objects that carry the ideas and help sustain the work. At the same time, the project expanded into a program for girls, connecting the history to strategy, identity, and real-world navigation. All of it is building toward an annual Blackwomerica exhibit—a physical space where the research, the stories, the art, and the community come together in one place.

I put on my shoes and I started.

Oprah Winfrey

Issa Rae
