BLACKWOMERICA
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, COLLEGE PREP, CAREER PLANNING, MENTORSHIP

Black students have the highest high school dropout rate in the state of California and most of the country. The path to success requires passion and guidance. One of the reasons students gravitate towards sports is due to the built-in blueprints to specific, successful outcomes. What if every career or vocation had a clearer path?

Blackwomerica is an interactive educational series that highlights the lives and careers of nearly 1500 Black women from around the world.

Each day, on the dates of their births, short biographical videos will be released.  Viewers will reestablish or make new connections to Black women educators, artists, activists, parents, entrepreneurs, and entertainers; some famous, some infamous. Media and lesson plans will be made available for deeper learning. Testing based on the canon of women will also be developed.

The founders of Indiefemme Films began this project intending to add other titles, highlighting other men and women from all backgrounds. However, as the research and care to develop Blackwomerica approaches its tenth year, they thought it might be best to actively support other teams willing to take on the effort. Perhaps even host a cross-cultural exhibit in the future.

Blackwomerica will seek to partner with organizations and share opportunities that will benefit all interested participants. The team will contact representatives for the Blackwomerica women to maintain accuracy and to highlight their business and philanthropic affiliations. The team will also schedule speakers and appearances.

As the program grows, Blackwomerica looks to build a physical exhibit. Perhaps a CAAM residency or pop-up attraction could host a new attraction and list of events each month.

Sales from ticket sales, events, physical products, affiliate fees, sponsorships, grants, and donations will allow the program to sustain itself and increase the quality of the program's goals.
